Remember That The Universe Bends Toward Justice

We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Washington National Cathedral, March 31, 1968

The road to a more just society is not linear

At times we will face detours, obstruction, and decay. With imminent threats to Dr. King’s vision of a just society and teachings of unity, The Women’s Foundation of Colorado reaffirms our commitment to create a future where women of every background and identity prosper.

We believe:

The power of diversity, equity, and inclusion helps everyone thrive.

That LGBTQ+, transgender, and immigrant communities deserve safety and opportunity.

All women should have the right to decide to have or not have children, free from stigma.

Every Coloradan should have the rights, freedom, and resources to pursue their own paths to happiness and prosperity.

Philanthropy is the love of humankind.

These values will continue to steer our work

We can’t anticipate every federal change and how they will impact us here at home, but we are determined to meet challenges with courage and compassion in partnership with you. On hard days, we will remind ourselves that the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice. But it requires action.

We invite you to join us in acts of community care

Starting with a series of three WFCO events, you will understand this year’s legislative session, identify your civic personality, and ultimately take action that feels true to you and your strengths.

As the only statewide, community-funded foundation protecting the progress and advancing gender, racial, and economic equity for all Colorado women, we leverage community investments and every tool we have to dismantle systemic barriers, close equity gaps, and build a more prosperous state for all women.

One of our tools is public policy advocacy

In the 2025 legislative session and beyond, we will work to protect the progress Colorado has made for women, families, communities of color, and gender-expansive individuals. Issues we will monitor closely and be poised to take action on with our partners along with you are:

  • Reproductive health care, including access to abortion and gender-affirming care
  • LGBTQ+ protections and rights
  • Immigrant protections and rights
  • Cuts to key government programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF
  • Opportunities to invest in child care and early care and education
  • Push back against civil society, which may include threats to nonprofits, foundations, and donors

I Want to Take Action
