Meet Macy McCasland, WFCO Staff Accountant

Macy McCasland, WFCO staff accountant since December 2022, moved to Denver from her hometown of Phoenix, AZ. When she is not in the office working her accounting magic, she is outside somewhere in the great outdoors, or binge-watching New Girl for the 13th time. Read on to learn more about her!

What about our mission inspires you?

Equity between race and gender is very important to me as I believe everyone should have the same opportunities for happiness and personal success in life.

What do you believe is the most pressing issue women and families in Colorado face?

Outdated social norms, beliefs, and legislature are imposing limitations on women and their families. Women are not given as many opportunities they are qualified for and entitled to.

What is the best personal decision you’ve ever made? Why?

The best personal decision I have ever made was to move from my hometown of Phoenix to Denver. Experiencing a new city after living in my hometown my whole life has taught me a lot about self-sustainability and brought me a lot of great new opportunities.

What is the most pivotal moment in your career?

The most pivotal moment in my career so far has been moving from the realm of business accounting to non-profit accounting. The work I am doing serves a positive purpose for my community and I find it very fulfilling.

Where do you find the most joy in your life?

I find joy in spending time with my friends and family. They are my support system and what matters to me most. I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.

What is your favorite place or activity to do in Colorado?

My favorite thing to do in Colorado is to rent a cabin and spend time outside of the city to truly enjoy the beauty of this state.

What movie scene lives in your head rent free?

The scene that lives rent-free in my head is the scene from “Office Space” where they are beating the printer with a baseball bat.

Should pineapple exist on pizza? What is your favorite pizza topping?

Pineapple on pizza is superb, but only if it is accompanied by pepperoni and jalapeños. This is the golden combo for pizza.

What is the most binge-worthy show? No judgement😊

I have seen New Girl over a dozen times and will gladly binge it for the rest of my life.
